CALLING EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES NO MEANS NO AND THAT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
According to the RAINN statistics:
-Every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.
-Out of a thousand perpetrators, only six are incarcerated.
And according to the Take Back the Night foundation:
-One in three women worldwide will experience sexual violence or partner violence.
-One in six men experience sexual violence.
We at First Generation Farmers, a woman-run farm in Discovery Bay, California, refuse to stay quiet about this issue that affects women both globally and within our own community. So we decided to plan a Take Back the Night event for the Bay Area of California- we are determined to bring awareness to the rampant rape culture in our society and empower survivors of such heinous crimes. Our event will be held on April 7th, 2017 from 6-10 pm PST.
UPDATE ON VENUE: Due to the rainstorm, we are now having our event at Hannah Nicole Winery!!!
BUT...we cannot do it without your support! The money that we raise will go to the costs of retaining speakers, musicians, licensing, porta potties (these little bathrooms are surprisingly expensive), craft materials for therapy art making, lighting, comfortable "trigger" sitting/relaxing areas, candles for vigil, and community educational materials.
