After 20 years of service to Southeast Portland's kids, the playground outside Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church and Taborspace was declared uninsurable and removed in September.

This is a chance to give our area something it has never had: an exciting nature playground informed by the best research on what gets kids active, social and adventurous. It will:

• provide a variety of natural, durable play elements, from balance logs to an "up and over" ladder to a hillside slide and tunnel
• be suitable for both older and younger kids, both active and passive play
• improve the fence
• enlarge the play area 30%
• improve access for kids & adults with disabilities

To make this happen, a team of nonprofits who operate at 54th and Belmont (the church, Mount Tabor Co-operative Preschool and PeaPod Family Resource Center) is chipping in money from our general funds and raising more through various small grant programs. But we also need some help from you.

Your tax-deductible gift will serve children you may know, and hundreds or thousands of others, for decades to come.

What your donation buys
$15 - one native plant
$35 - one shade sail
$50 - one up-and-over ladder
$80 - one mud kitchen sink
$100 - one kids' picnic table
$140 - eight feet of fencing
$320 - one fence gate
$500 - one welcome sign
$1000 - one covered area

Funds will start being used immediately to purchase materials.  Work will be done in phases so that the space continues to be usable.

Phase 1 - Winter 2018/Spring 2019.  Fence replacement, site prep, and priority play elements.
Phase 3 - Summer 2019.  Additional elements.

The playground re-design has begun and we will share updates.  If you would like to participate through contribution of time or materials we would love to have you.  Please fill out our survey and we will be in touch.

Hello playground contributors, I have some exciting news to share! We have a anonymous donor willing to match up to $4,000 for funds raised through this GoFundMe. So all of your contributions and any additional will be doubled. Pretty awesome right? Please feel free to spread the word and help us continue to reach our goal.

We would also like to invite those of you in the Portland area on Valentine's Day to our Valentine Rock event at the Lagunitas Community Room this Thursday from 6-9pm. It's a family-friendly event with food, drink ticket, raffle ticket, kids music and activities included. For $40 for a family ticket, and $15 for individual it's a great value. All proceeds go to the playground and will be matched with the $4,000 donation above. Tickets are available through the Eventbrite link below or at the door. We would love to meet you!

Last but not least, we are making progress with the playground design including layout and ADA accessible pathing. We should have something to share before Spring. We are also actively pursuing a number of community grants to help get us to our goal.

Thank you again for your contributions!
