Help Save Us From Foreclosure

Donation protected
My name is Kristina and I have taken over this GoFundMe for my sister and her family, since she is dealing with a really bad flare up and is very sick right now. My sister, her husband, and their 3 kids are facing foreclosure on their family home thanks mainly to a lifelong illness - type 1 diabetes- that my sister has dealt with for the majority of her life. My sister & her husband are hardworking people and have always been so. They are first gen college grads AND first gen home owners. They never made tons of money but they used to make at least enough to get by, to support themselves & their 3 kids with no assistance. My sister has been a type 1 diabetic (which means she is insulin dependent) since age 14. I remember when she was diagnosed - she passed out in public and had to be rushed to the hospital. It was terrifying for our whole family because we had no idea what was going on and what diabetes even was. My sister has worked her whole life, from being the oldest sibling and helping our single mom take care of us other 3 kids, and at least part time in traditional jobs since 14 years old, all through high school & college. But in late 2016 she lost her job. Unfortunately, my sister has now used up all her savings & retirement in order to help keep her family afloat. She's been looking for jobs, too, but none have been able to accommodate her medical issues. She's in the process of getting an official diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis, is facing at least 2 (maybe more) surgeries, and is pursuing a disability case (which is on appeal). The hugely pressing issue is they're behind on their mortgage. They'd been making partial payments for a while, but now the bank won't even take that, and their most recent Borrower's Assistance request was just denied. They need almost $9,000 to keep from being foreclosed on. They received notice that their house will be sold at auction on February 12th, 2018, if they don't come up with the money. My sister has 3 kids; the youngest two are only 8 and 5 years old, and have never known anywhere else as their home. They literally couldn't even remain in the area since they live in a college town where rent has soared to astronomical prices. My brother-in-law would be forced to leave his job and the whole family would have to split up & move 2+ hours away to live with various family members who could take them in, and there would be no guarantee on a job for my brother-in-law, much less my sister, since both my family as well as my brother-in-law's families, live in an economically depressed area. They also have 2 pets that would be in jeopardy if they lose their home - a dog and a cat they took in when other people were going to just toss them out. That's just the type of people my sister and her husband are, always quick to help others out. They never ask for help for themselves. But right now, they desperately need it. The recent holidays were the worst - in addition to Christmas, my niece and nephew each have a birthday during the holiday months. Obviously, things were very slim this year. Sacrifices are being made, obviously, but it breaks my heart for them. My sister said "We didn't go into great detail with the kids but they seem to understand, which makes me both sad we can't do more and also grateful that we've raised decent kids for whom presents and big parties don't seem matter." Our families have done everything we possibly can to help them but unfortunately it isn't enough. So now we turn to the kindness of strangers on the internet in hopes of help. Thank you for reading! I sincerely hope you feel moved to donate anything, it would help them out sooo much! Thank you!!!
