Syrian Family's New Life in Canada

It has been hard to watch the ongoing tragedy in Syria over the past few years. That is why many Canadians have volunteered to privately "sponsor" Syrian refugee families to come to Canada and start a new life here.
Scott and I have been lucky enough to be a part of one of these sponsor groups. Our group has been matched with THREE Syrian families and we will be responsible for supporting them during their first year here in Canada. Our donations - and yours, should you wish to support us - will pay for their rent, groceries, school, winter clothing and any other expenses that arise during their year. Any donation will make a direct impact - in a real and tangible way - for these families who are starting over.

Family #1 - A mother and son (Amira and Khaled) who arrived in December 2016
Family #2 - A husband, wife and their 4 children (ages 6-17), who arrived in November 2017
Family # 3 - A husband, wife (who is Amira's daughter/Khaled's sister) and their two daughters who were just approved to come to Canada on July 10th
Where your donation goes:
$25 will help pay for their cell phone bill so they can keep in touch with the family they left behind
$50 will help pay for their groceries for the week so they can cook meals that remind them of home
$100 will buy their monthly transit pass so they can take the bus to their English classes at the community center
$250 will buy them a new winter coat, hat and gloves to help them brave their first Canadian winter
$1000 will pay for their month's rent where they will have a safe place to call home after years of uncertainty

Your relationship with the parties for whom you are raising funds and your method of contact with them: This family is our 3rd family who we have sponsored via private sponsorship. We met them through our 1st family (they are related) and filled out their application in 2017. They are a family of 4 who is moving to Canada on July 10th
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): These funds will go directly to the family for monthly expenses like: rent, groceries, public transportation, school supplies, winter coats, and any other essentials.
Your specific plan for how the funds will be withdrawn from and sent to the beneficiary of the campaign: Funds will be withdrawn by me and deposited directly into their bank account OR will be used for me to buy things for the family in advance of their arrival (i.e. furniture, pots and pans, mattresses, rent deposits, etc).
