In Loving Memory of Bigtime Mac

Late night on October 6, I learned a racehorse by the name of Bigtime Mac was in a kill pen in Minnesota. I looked up this horse's record and was heartbroken to see that he had raced 65 times in Chicago, and 9 months following his last race he was bound for slaughter. He had given his entire life to the sport. He deserves so much more than a cruel death at 9 years old. If he wasn't saved by noon on October 9, he was shipping to slaughter. *We* (horse lovers, racing enthusiasts, animal lovers, and humans in general) couldn't let this happen. 

With the help of the public, as well as the equestrian and racing communities, I am determined to save this horse's life and give him the life and retirement he deserves. 

Can you help Bigtime Mac? 

I've paid his "bail" from the kill pen but there's still a tremendous amount of expenses and resources needed to save this horse and ensure he has a bright future.

I anticipate at least $7,500 in expenses in the first year alone of rehabilbating this horse. A highlight of these expenses might include:

Kill Pen "Bail": $700
Quarantine: $500
Trailering to Chicago: $700
Annual Vet Expenses  (If healthy): $1,000
Annual Board: $5,000
Annual Farrier: $600
Annual Dentist: $300

About me personally, I am a horse owner and CANTER Illinois volunteer. I have dozens of individuals that can vouch to my integrity in promoting and caring for the well-being of ex-racehorses.
