We had a horrific fire last night while on tour.

This morning as we got on the highway from Texarkana TX in route to Amarillo for the opening weekend of our Something Different Tour our bus trailer caught fire.

At approximately 5am on I-40W just outside of Okemah, Oklahoma our bus driver opened the galley door to the bunk area of the bus and ordered us to evacuate the bus because of the fire.  Our team scrambled to get out of the bus as smoke began to fill the bus.

Thankfully, with some quick thinking and hard work by our driver and some crew we were able to unlodge the bus from the trailer safely before the trailer completely went up in flames.  At approximately 530am the local fire crew came and extinguished the trailer fire.

We are thanking God that our band family (band/crew) are all accounted for and safe.  This is one of the scariest moments in our 16 years as a band.

Unfortunately, the trailer contained a lifelong collection of priceless musical equipment and many of the pieces that were crucial to our tour.  Many of these items are rare and cannot be replaced.  We are estimating the value of lost gear/equipment/merchandise at over 95,000 dollars.

We are currently working with our insurance company to file a claim but know from past experiences that most of these items will not be covered.

We believe that there is a darkness that would desire to slow us down, shut us up, and fill us with fear and we are resolved to continue the work we've been called. We are committed to the cause of Christ and will do everything in our power to continue playing shows, writing songs, sharing unconditional love and hope across the country and world.

Tonight we are heading to Amarillo and will perform a show with whatever working pieces of instrument and gear we have.

We have set up this GoFundMe page to recover the gear/equipment/merchandise that was lost in the fire.  We are humbled and thankful for any support you can give whether it be prayers, sharing on social media, or contributing the this campaign.

Thank you for your support.

One week ago at this time we were just starting to process the impact of the trailer fire. There were a lot of unknowns in that moment. How would we play our next show? Would the tour even be able to continue? How would we be able to cope with the financial impact of losing so much, so quickly. Here we are one week later with 92,500 donated from over 1400 people. We've talked daily this past week about the ridiculous outpouring of love and support for this ministry. The bottom line is people do not donate to causes they don't believe in. Your generosity is doing more than helping us keep stable monetarily. It is filling us with a renewed passion and fervor for the cause. We realize fully that it isn't the cause of Sidewalk Prophets that you have contributed to. It is the message of Christ that we obediently carry that is the driving force behind this overwhelming support. The next update we write, you will have successfully helped us cross the threshold of raising 95k in just one week. To say that we owe you is an understatement. So from here on out, whenever we're loading up our new trailer, and loading in our replacement gear we are going to think of you. We're going to think about how you believed in us enough to help us. We look at your contribution as an unbreakable bond. We will look at each show with fresh eyes and with this new perspective we see that your love and generosity are now deeply sown into the fabric of our calling. We move forward together as one great big family. We're humbled, honored, and excited for the next chapter. Thank you.

This week we have experience a spectrum of emotions from fear to helplessness, from anxiety to anger. Somewhere in the middle of all these feelings we've found bright shining light. This light has shattered our emotions, broken our fears, and comforted the doubts as to whether this tour could even continue. We don't charge for our headlining tours and charge 10 dollars for tickets because we want to make the Gospel accessible to everyone. We're not millionaires, not even close (as some ignorantly imply) but we hold on to something far more powerful than money. That something we hold on to is a community of people that lift each other up when they are down. A community that believes in the power of hope, love and valuing each person. A community of people that surrounds each other in times of great joy as well as great suffering. The past 4 days our team has been physically exhausted, spiritually worn, and emotionally drained but this great big family of Christ followers has lifted our spirits! You have swooped in with your generous prayers, and thoughtful donations. We've seen people who have nothing give something because they believe in what Christ is doing through this ministry. What a humbling, humbling demonstration of love. To the 1300+ people who have come together to lift us up please hear these words with as much appreciation and admiration as possible. THANK YOU. THANK YOU for allowing us to continue to do what Christ has called us to do. With your support we move forward not as a band and crew of 15 but as a great big family that includes each and every one of you. Thank you for being a part of this band and thank you for lifting us up in a time of need. We do not take that lightly. We look forward to seeing many of you this week and look forward to thanking you in person as the tour presses on through California and beyond. -SWP

To this Great Big Family of are literally saving a band and tour. The merchandise we lost in the fire will not be covered by insurance. We lost 99 percent of our touring merchandise and without your help we would not have been able to reorder or replace what we had before. For those who don't know...we do not charge venues to host our headlining tours and we sell 10 dollar tickets to try and make the experience affordable for everyone. The merchandise sales are crucial to keeping us going and you all are lifting us up during this time to cover that gap. To those who have been emailing, sharing, commenting, calling, texting and covering the incident we are forever grateful. Tonight we're playing in Las Vegas and we will be in California the rest of the week. We will keep you updated as we work towards rebuilding. We cannot say it enough THANK YOU!
