Swim for Kym!

As many of you know, our friend, fellow Rock Creek Parent, and Rock Creek Pool member Kym Hurley's cancer returned earlier this year when doctors performed a series of scans and detected metastatic breast cancer in her lungs. She started treatment and is feeling positive about the plan. The goal from this point forward is to slow the growth of the cancer and manage the symptoms.

After careful consideration, Kym decided to retire from her role as a teacher at Somerset Elementary School to focus on the long road of treatments ahead. Retiring was not an easy decision as one of Kym’s greatest fulfillments in life has always been teaching children. She taught for 30 years and would have taught another 30 years if her health had allowed it.

Retiring at the end of the year was also not part of her family’s financial plan. She is a single parent with a mortgage, bills, and a future she was planning for her beautiful children, Zora and Blake (and dog Cosmo). We need your support! Every dollar will make a huge difference in allowing her to stay in her home, receive the necessary treatments, and let her kids continue the extracurricular activities that give them the joy and normalcy they deserve.

Kym is a wonderful mother, friend, co-worker, teacher, sister, and daughter. She deserves all the love, care, and support our community can give. Thank you for your help!
