Swaffham Floodlight Repair

Donation protected
Unfortunately Swaffham Town FC was targeted by vandals during September 18-21, who shot out the clubs floodlights with use of a catapult or possibly gun. During this incident several floodlights have been smashed and damaged therefore putting the club in a very tough position. These floodlights are essential for the season especially heading into the winter months and put the club in danger of missing out on their cup run in the FA Vase competition.

Statement from Swaffham Town FC official website:

'' Five of the six floodlight columns have had there lights taken out by either a gun or catapult. The thousands if not millions of glass fragments showering to the ground, some falling onto our football pitch some onto the neighbouring bowls green. It took six volunteers two hours to remove as many as the glass fragments that could be found from the playing surface to get the game on for the afternoon fixture. Due to the age of the lights it is not sure if replacement components are available and there is the obvious disadvantage of their location, fifty feet in the air requiring access equipment and potential damage to the pitch. This will set the Club back financially and looking forward may have further implications for our playing season, the Under 18's playing mid-week football and our progression into the FA Vase Competition. During the course of a week over sixty players and coaching volunteers represent the Town on the field of play, these irresponsible actions have to be stopped. ''
