Help SVES get to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals!
All of the hard work and practice that Sunrise Valley’s “Team Cosmos” has put in since October has them poised to show the world their creativity and quick thinking.
In March, they beat sixteen other teams to win the Northern Virginia Regional Tournament.
In April, they travelled to the Virginia State Tournament in Newport News and won first place out of the fourteen best teams from across the state.
Now, they’re planning their trip to the 37th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals May 25 – 28 at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
At the World Tournament, the team will be immersed in a community of similarly creative, enthusiastic, and motivated students from around the country and the world. Your contributions will help pay for their tournament registration, travel, dorm housing, food, and shipping for their sets, props, and costumes – estimated to be over $14,000 for the entire team.
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. The competition emphasizes creativity and teamwork and has grown into the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide.
