This is the first ever interview with the news since the shooting took place five years ago.
On May 23, 2013 at 11:15am, a gunman came into a pharmacy all dressed in black. In the small city of Bean Station, Tennessee. He started waving a revolver demanding for opiates yelling "Give me all your Fu***** drugs!" He then ordered the pharmacist to lock the front door and for everyone to hold their hands up. There were three employees and one customer inside the Down Home Pharmacy at that time. The pharmacist gave the gunman a tray of Opiates. The gunman then proceeds to tell everyone to get on their knees and then he lined them up execution style. The first person the gunman went to was the customer Richard Sommerville, who recently had hip and back surgery; Mr. Sommerville told him he couldn't get further down because of the surgery. Once everyone got to their knees this is when the shooting took place. He first shot Mr. Sommerville in the back of his head, then he turned to the pharmacist Steven Lovell.  Mr. Lovell as well was shot in the back of his head. Mr. Lovell was one of the happiest people and would have done anything for anyone, he was also a loving father. Mr. Sommerville was a Veteran, he proudly served this country and was a wonderful father to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Sommerville's wife was in the grocery store right next door as all this took place. Jan was next to have to face the gunman; as she was waiting she heard a voice that said "Don't be afraid," she then turned to Alexia Wilson an said "If we are dying we are not dying on our knees!" So Jan turned her head just enough for the bullet to not go through her whole head and Alexia kicked the gun out of the robbers hand. Jan stabbed him with her car keys then Alexia got shot in the face but just barely missed from ending her life. After that he then made Alexia help him out the back door. He was caught not even a few miles away from the Pharmacy. Here's the news story, The Pharmacy Robbery . Only the two women survived; Alexia stayed away from work for awhile and now works  for her mother. Jan is currently going and speaking at events for people with drug and alcohol addiction with various people such as; Judge Sloan, the Judge that ruled in this court case an also has been helping people with records to pregnant women that are fighting addiction.  Monty Burks, Ph. D. is the Director, Faith Based Initiatives, Substance Abuse Services for the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Substances for the State of Tennessee . She also meets with HOPE for Victims to talk about ways about fixing our communities that deal with addiction. She is drawing disability but it's not enough money to go an speak at events, go to meetings, and speak about issues such as: Victims Rights, Fighting Addiction, Gun Rights, Workers Comp issues, Dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Depression. I have attended all of Jan's events because she is my mother and all I see with her is worrying about money so she can keep going around and speaking at these events. She definitely wouldn't accept money from those who ask her to speak at their event. She loves helping people, she took the pharmacy tech job years ago because she just wanted to help others. She knew everyone by name, she would drop off medicine to elderly patients who couldn't get out just because she loved all her patients.
Walking in the Light-
Jan would love for invitations to tell her story at more events, the story needs to be told to more people about the dangers of addiction and going through a terrible experience an how to deal with all the things that come with it. If we can help just one person each day, that would be wonderful. This is her mission in life. If you are looking for a real person that puts all they have into it, then you are more than welcome to contact us to have her speak at events.
Survivor-
Unfortunately, money is hard to come by when you only draw disability and there is no way she could return to work. We would love to raise the money as quick as possible because the issues at stake move fast without being able to make all the trips due to her income. The money raised for her would all go to gas for trips, hotel rooms, and just living on a fixed income.

We would like to remember Richard Sommville and Steven Lovell.

Jan works with Judge Duane Sloan. Here's an example of some of the work " Judge Sloan ."
Jan works with Monty Burks, Ph. D. Here's an example of some of the work he does with her and also if you are fighting addiction check this place out "TN Recovery ."
