The story:
In 2020, Heather will be rowing from Monterey, California to Hilo, Hawaii across the Pacific Ocean unsupported to raise $250,000 for individuals and communities facing poverty through the work of Tear Australia and Emmanuel International. 

More than 800 million people still live in extreme poverty and are struggling to meet the most basic needs of life - food, clean water, education - and secure employment. Seventy percent of these individuals are women. They could have easily been me or you, but we were just born in a different place.  

Driven by the belief that everyone can do something about injustice in the world, Heather will battle 40+ foot waves, storm force winds, and tackle 3900 kilometers of ocean. In order to get across the ocean, turn heads and change hearts in doing so, she needs some help to survive the crossing.

This sponsorship will help cover the kinds of things that can't be easily donated  by in-kind sponsors like: 

- daily weather routing and radio safety calls
- safety training courses
- insurance
- shipping
- marine licensing
- flights (air mile donations are welcome! just email us)
