Earlier this month, Ellen met Natasha and Cheryl, the Founder and Principal of Summit Academy Charter School, a Title 1 public charter school for middle and high school students in Brooklyn, New York. The school was founded in 2009 and is located in an impoverished neighborhood in which only 4% of people in the community have college degrees. Many of their students have difficult home lives, some students are homeless, come from single-parent households or lack basic necessities.

Summit’s mission is to send each and every one of their students to college. The staff at Summit wants their scholars to know that college is an option and their dreams are possible regardless of where they come from. Last year, 93% of their first graduating class went on to college and now they are working hard to send 100% of this year's graduating class to college, but many of the students lack the funds.

With the help and generosity of Walmart, Ellen surprised Summit Academy with the biggest giveaway she's ever had on her show; a $1.6 million donation, giving a 4-year college scholarship to everyone in the senior class at Summit Academy! These seniors will have the opportunity to attend any State University of New York, thanks to this amazing gift.

Ellen and Walmart want to continue to support the future of all students at Summit Academy, and you can partner with them to do it! You can be a part of helping these students on the path to success by generously giving to meet the needs of the students and the school.

Join the Ellen DeGeneres Show and Walmart, and help make these students' dreams come true!
