Supporting Andrew Katelaris

$17,525 of $100,000 goal

Dr Andrew Katelaris is currently incarcerated facing  severe penalties for prescribing and providing Whole Plant Cannabis to children with a condition formerly known as “Intractable Epilepsy.”

Because of Andrew and others research he can confidently say that before “whole plant cannabis” there was no successful treatment for the hundreds of children with this supposedly untreatable condition.

Please note you may see articles where Andrew comes across as frustrated, this is because he lives with the families that live with childhood epilepsy, he has witnessed thousands of people have better quality of life for the last 20+ years because of plant he believes should be grown freely and is as cheap to grow as parsley.

If you are one of the thousands that have, or have witnessed improved health and better quality of life because of Dr Andrew Katelaris's dedication to Cannabis then he need's your assistance.

We ask those treated by Dr Andrew Katelaris to write a statement about how he has helped you (the nature of advice sought, the advice given, and outcomes) or even send a donation whether large or small every dollar will count in the battle to keep him out of jail.

Please email any statements to AKatelarisMovement@gmail.com as Dr Andrew is facing serious a serious challenge.

30 July 2018 Andrew, self represented, achieved bail in the criminal court of appeal, Sydney NSW. As a result he can now prepare for 05 November trial. He was represented by senior counsel in his previous attempt at bail in June who failed to “show cause” on his behalf and Andrew was  refused bail. Furthermore he has been given a grant from legal aid which now has carriage for the November trial. The dilemma now is, will he use it? Over $20,000 has been spent on lawyers and senior counsel since the matter began at the end of May 2017. The only successful outcomes  have been obtained when he self-represents. Of course he hasn’t been able to work and is officially, at his time, not permitted to consult on any matters whatsoever, including dietary advice - one of the several bail conditions.  He has survived maximum security on remand relatively intact,  despite the appalling conditions experienced. He didn’t succumb to drug abuse while inside which he found to be rampant at  Parklea and Shortland (Cessnock) Correctional Centres. Our remand system needs complete review. He has lost some weight and much physical tone.  Intellectually he will rebound having been given his freedom once more.  He is home again with wife and family. Many thanks to those who unstintingly helped him with sorting out his legal issues, his sister Dianna who travelled several times from Sydney to see him in prison and at Court, his friend Paul who visited him in prison almost weekly and was in phone contact with him and who has appeared in every court matter involving Andrew, Graeme the “criminal lawyer” and Adam Houda, real criminal lawyer who visited him in Parklea gratis while he was seeing other inmates,  as well as thanks to his many named and anonymous supporters evident at this site and at his petition site —change.org. Andrew is indebted to you all. Telephone and email  communications to home were of great moral support, as were the visits to home  from friends  — many thanks. In particular thanks to those, especially  Chris Newby and Dee  — who made the effort to communicate and who turned up in court, in the face of their own life-threatening battles and who rallied friends together in support of Andrew.
None of you are forgotten,  thanks from Maria.

Andrew is behind bars again and may be there until the trial starts in November unless a Supreme Court appeal passes. Funds to date have gone to a legal team plus barrister. More recently a lawyer has been engaged to appear in court RE the current matter. 3 lawyers will now have visited Andrew in jail since the beginning of his first in Parklea and now in the Hunter Valley.

Thank you all for your continuous support.
