Support the Gonzalez Family

Donation protected

On January 31st, 2017 the Gonzalez family gained an angel.

Hard working, selfless and a family man are three things his family and loved ones will always remember Ramiro by.

To say that Ramiro is hard working is an understatement. He worked as a gardener at the Four Seasons Biltmore for sixteen years, in addition to having his own gardening business for more than 28 years. Ramiro worked tirelessly to provide a better future for his family. One of the toughest parts of his fight with cancer was when he realized he had to give up working.
Ramiro always made sure that his family had food on the table, his four children received an education, and that overall the people that he cared about were taken care of.

One of things we will all miss is Ramiro's smile. He had a contagious smile that would brighten up anyone's day, even during his chemo sessions, he always found a reason to smile. Now it is our turn to take care of him and to help support his family through this devastating time.

In May of 2016 Ramiro Gonzalez was diagnosed with stage-four-pancreatic cancer.

Ramiro's terminal disease diagnosis came as a surprise to him and everybody who knew him. For those of you who may not be familiar with pancreatic cancer, it is one of the most aggressive cancers that often goes undiagnosed until it is already far advanced. Ramiro was told that he would not survive past August, but his will to fight and his love for his family gave him the strength to live for almost 9 months. It is easy to highlight his strength, but it would be dishonest to not recognize the daily pain and suffering that he and his family experienced.

Ramiro would always say “no hay lucha que no valga” which is loosely translated to “there is value in every struggle”. When you heard him speak, you could hear resilience in his voice and although he had a very difficult life he was never afraid to face reality head-on. Ramiro raised his children to always work hard and to value their education as a means to plan for the future. Ramiro deserves to rest in peace because he lived a selfless life and unfortunately never had the opportunity to reap the benefits of his hard work due to his illness and inability to receive retirement benefits. As a way to show him how special he is and in an effort to honor his life, we hope to raise enough money to go towards covering both funeral costs and pending medical bills. While this year has been a struggle for him and his family, we want to do everything we can to ensure that his wishes for end of life are realized and that his family is able to mourn in peace.

Every donation is appreciated and will go towards helping relieve some of the financial burden for the family. Arrangements for the funeral service are being planned by the family and will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
