FLOCK has exciting plans for 2019 and would love your support in bringing our work to stage!
What is FLOCK?
FLOCK is a co-choreography company founded in 2017 by Florian Lochner and Alice Klock. As FLOCK we create and perform our own work, teach as a team, collaborate with an international team of guest artists, create new works on schools and companies, and produce our own shows in the US and abroad.
The 2019 Performance Schedule
May 18:
A FLOCK evening in Chicago, IL! This show will be created in collaboration with 5 brilliant local dancers and will consist of 4 pieces including 3 world premieres.
August 2-4
Florian and Alice will perform and create alongside Adaptations Dance Theater in Maui! This show will include a new FLOCK creation on the company at ADT and a FLOCK duet performed by FLOCK.
August 17-18 (dates tentative)
FLOCK will perform a duet evening in Seattle, WA! Our first full length 2 person show!
October (dates tentative)
An evening of new work performed in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany! This show will be the culmination of a 5 week creation residency and will be made in collaboration with the amazing Sebastian Kloborg! We are excited to hold a week of workshops for local schools during this residency.
Why we need you!
We need your help to make these programs possible! Any donation big or small will go towards plane tickets, costumes, guest artist fees, music rights, rehearsal space, and the many general expenses of putting on shows of this nature. We are thrilled to be expanding our reach this year, with opportunities to share our work in new and exciting places. Alongside all of these performances we look forward to teaching and continuing to spread the FLOCK philosophy.
Our Philosophy
In all of our work we strive to build a creation environment that is inclusive, dynamic, vibrant, and based on joy. This is as important to us as the finished product and in the end this sneaks into the final piece in the form of a strong sense of community and care.
It is a priority of ours to create work in which the roles of everyone in the creation are balanced. We construct all of our pieces to open up to new definitions of what it means to be vulnerable or strong. When teaching we find a way to invest in everyone in the room equally as we believe everyone has something individual and powerful to share.
FLOCK as a performing company operates with the same mission at its core. With Alice and Florian as the constant, the company expands and contracts to include an international team of guest artists. Any artist who participates in FLOCK is not asked to fit into a mold, but is rather asked to fully express and explore their craft in a collaborative setting. We believe that respecting and caring for each artist enables them to tap into and express the full power of their artistry. We are proud to offer the highest caliber of dance in settings without pretension and with a generosity and accessibility not always found in concert dance. We hope that with our international efforts we can help the dance world be a place in which great art and great humanity work always hand in hand.
Our Goal
We hope to reach our goal of $10,000 by June 1, 2019! By mid June Florian and Alice will be officially FLOCKing full time! We are thrilled to be committing to FLOCK in this way and are so excited to share with you all that we believe this company has to offer!
