70 differently abled amazing kids

Donation protected
Hi Friends,

I wanted to provide some context about Siri.

Couple of years back I started searching for an NGO that is not widely known, has no corporate tie-ups but is doing some great genuine work for differently disabled children.

Siri fit the requirements and they are unique in many ways.

First - they focus on the villages where parents do not have enough information to manage a differently abled child. Often they leave the children at home, locking them up while the parents go out for work, mostly as daily laborers. Siri voluntarily reaches out to such parents, educates them and enrolls children as day scholars or provide hostel facility depending on the parents economic situation.

Second, Siri not only educates the kids but prepares them to be self reliant by providing vocational training.

Third and most important is the funding. Ms.Gopi Devi, the Director of Siri, started the institute in 1994 with her own money. Since then, the institute mostly relied on self funding or contributions from donors and has expanded to multiple locations. This is commendable considering that the institute now has more than 70 students staying in hostel plus many more day scholars.

I have been funding two students ($50) every month from past two years and had a chance to visit the institute on a recent trip to India. After seeing the work that Gopi Devi and her team is doing to help these differently abled kids succeed in their lives, and hearing about the fund crunch that is impacting the institute to better help the kids, I felt much more can be accomplished with help from all of you.

I know $4000 is an ambitious goal but it can be accomplished with your support. Any donation - $5,$10 $20 or $50, will help us to get closer to the goal.

Looking forward for your support.
