Jennifer's Recovery

Donation protected

My name is Hannah LaBrecque and I have started this GoFundMe page for my mother, Jennifer LaBrecque, who recently suffered a heart attack, in order to raise funds to cover the costs of her hospital stay and on-going medical bills in her near future.

I am currently a full-time biochemistry student at Kennesaw State University while working part-time. At the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester, I made the decision to move back in with my mother. She opened her doors because she wants me to succeed personally, educationally and professionally. To support us, she worked two jobs as a waitress in Marietta Square all last semester and through the holiday season. In this short period of time, I have rediscovered just how selfless and caring she is. When anyone needs help, advice, or someone to lean on she is a person to go to.  On mornings that I have exams she insists I sit down and study, and allow her to cook breakfast so that I can be in the right 'mind-set'.

I've never met a woman with as much passion about life as she has. From  writing over thirty books, kayaking the Okefenokee swamp, all the way to thrift store shopping.  No matter the circumstances she always manages to make the best of any situation.

On Thursday, January 27, 2016 she met with a graduate advisor Georgia State University to embark on a Master's Degree Program. An hour and a half later, I received a phone call that she was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital because she was suffering from a heart attack. She had arterial blockages, which have now been cleared and six stints have been placed in her heart. This means she is going to have to take time off of work to recover and will have a lot of hospital bills coming her way. My mother is defiant and determined to return to her normal way of life as soon as possible, and frankly, would be mortified that I have created this page. However, she has touched so many lives through her effervescent smile, her kind heart, her caring ear, I know people want to help.

The money raised will be used exclusively to help pay these hospital bills. Any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated. After her medical costs are covered, any remaining funds will be donated to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which is a "private charitable organization dedicated to helping build better futures for disadvantaged children in the U.S."

Thank you so much.
