Estoy solicitando ayuda económica para contratar una persona permanente que cuide a dos personas en condición de discapacidad. Ellas son mis hermanas menores: Edith y Patricia.
I am requesting the financial support to hire a permanent person who can take care of two girls due to the condition of their disability. They are my younger sisters: Edith and Patricia.
Ellas podían caminar y trabajar. Llevaban una vida normal pero la epilepsia las fue deteriorando al punto que ahora están en sillas de ruedas. Edith tiene un tubo gástrico para su alimento y Patricia tiene que mantener con un tanque de oxígeno pues su corazón está afectado también.
They could walk and work. They had a normal life, but the epilepsy deteriorated their health to the point that they are now in wheelchairs. Besides that, Edith has a gastric tube for her food and Patricia has to keep an oxygen tank because her heart is affected as well.
La Nueva EPS (Entidades Promotoras de Salud) no autoriza ayuda domiciliaria porque la cuidadora, mi mami, es de la tercera edad. Ella tiene 75 años, y también requiere una persona que le ayude. Tiene catarata senil en su ojo izquierdo y sus piernas le están molestando mucho últimamente.
Colombia has one Public and many Private health insurance plans. The Public plan is called EPS (Entidades Promotoras de Salud) does not authorize an assistant or in-home helper because my mom, the primary caregiver of the children, is an elderly woman. She is 75 years old, and also requires a person to help her. She has a senile cataract in her left eye and her legs are bothering her a lot lately.
El Ministerio de Salud de Colombia tiene una nueva ley que considera que un asistente o enfermera no es medicina y por lo tanto no lo aprueba. Que el cuidado debe ser por parte de un familiar. Pero desafortunadamente no hay alguien disponible.
The Ministry of Public Health in Colombia has a new law that states that any home assistant or in-home help are not medicine. Therefore, they do not approve them. That the care must be on the part of a relative. But unfortunately, there is no one available.
También pedimos la ayuda económica para las terapias de fonología, terapia física, de lenguaje y la terapia ocupacional para las dos chicas: Edith y Patricia.
We are also requesting the financial help to provide the different kind of therapies the two girls, Edith and Patricia require: Phonology, physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
