Support STEM where Youth Innovates!

The engine for free and affordable online courses

Introduction video Diversity4Tech.Science

Social problem:

We want to empower women and minorities in tech industry through improvement of STEM education in primary and secondary schools. In other words, improve gender and racial bias in STEM education and career.

When looking back to own childhood and experience in school and even nowadays in many primary and secondary schools, there’s a lack of exposure to technology and scientific subjects. In cases where children do get exposed to these, they mostly learn through society and culture the gender roles where some professions are dominated by men.

When you do ask children, what do you want to be when older? Still a majority would not say a STEM related profession.

So the issues that prevent us from lowering the gender gap and having more women and diversity in the tech industry are basically:

1. The lack of exposure in primary and secondary schools to scientific subjects and technology. Not every school in the world has the means to include related courses into their curriculum.

2. The lack of having role models. Children don’t learn about and get exposed enough to successful women and other diverse groups in technology and science.

Purpose:

The aim is to increase the STEM level and interest of students, especially local young girls and other young socially discriminated groups in the communities, and there with the enrollment rate to higher education and university concerning related studies. By means of affordable planned activities (technology workshops in schools, mentorship, an accessible e-learning platform with free and affordable online courses in STEM, and improving IT training of teachers) the youth can be supported, encouraged, inspired, guided and involved in STEM.

This means working together with communities, local elementary and middle schools to enhance STEM education, where young girls and also boys can sign up for engaging STEM online courses, workshops at their school, and mentorship which can be part of the school curriculum.

Mission:

Empowering diversity and inclusivity in STEM by improving STEM education and exposure online -->To encourage, include, involve and engage the youth, especially young girls and minorities, in technology and science to inspire them to aspire a career in STEM and to innovate.

Vision:

Make the local activities of this initiative for inclusiveness nationally towards an international growth. This way students (elementary and middle school ) across the globe have access to accessible, affordable, fun, and qualitative STEM education.

Solution:

Offering accessible, affordable, inspiring, fun , engaging and qualitative STEM education for everyone regardless of gender, background, culture etc. via:

E-learning platform with free and affordable online courses in STEM

STEM hands-on workshops in schools: teaching children how to code, develop apps etc.

- Train teachers to teach STEM courses by using our e-learning platform as a tool

- Mentorship

The goal with the campaign is to raise at least €1000 to start executing a workshops-program at one school in the Netherlands and to further build the e-learning platform with qualitative courses. In the first year, it is aimed to provide workshops at five schools and offering over 1000 courses on the e-learning platform that are free and affordable.

Thank you for your support for this inclusive platform as donors and ambassadors in our journey to make STEM more inclusive for everybody!
