My name is Ashley Fox. I have set up this account for a dear family friend, to help him through his battle with cancer. The following was written by his sister. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I am writing to you on behalf of my brother, Richard (‘Ricky’) Bennett Jr. On December 25, 2016 Richard suffered from a seizure that was uncontrollable. Paramedics and the fire department responded and through the course of his ride to hospital, he continued to have multiple seizures which left him unresponsive and caused the trauma team to intubate him at the hospital. An MRI showed a brain tumor in his frontal lobe that required him to be transferred by helicopter to Thomas Jefferson hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, the surgical team could not remove the tumor completely and two weeks later he was diagnosed with stage two brain cancer. Since the diagnosis, Ricky has begun ongoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Jefferson Hospital in hopes of removing the rest of the tumor. The costs for the emergency helicopter flight, ambulance rides, surgery to remove the tumor and ongoing medical treatments are quickly approaching an astronomical number. My family has been working with a social worker to help us through this unfamiliar and difficult time and they estimate his total out of pocket medical costs will easily surpass six figures.
Ricky is more than just a number! He is a son, brother, uncle, and friend. To his family, he is an amazing human being who puts others first and makes it a point to be there for every event in his family’s life. He has worked with Habitat for Humanity, constructed materials for a special needs classroom, and continues to be an active member of the northeast community. He is an avid Flyers fan who played hockey all the way through high school. At 32, he is a vital member of Rich Bennett Contracting alongside his father. Together, they work and oversee every job that they do. Because of the seizures, he can no longer work as he once did which has also contributed to the rising medical bills.
