ARIA's New Look
The Board of Directors commissioned the Carrie Chatterson Studio, based in Wakefield, RI, to give ARIA its contemporary and all-inclusive new look. The logo you see above was chosen for the organization's clean and fresh approach to be applied to multiple applications. Specific genres will be highlighted with their name below the "bridge" span. Also a brand new website -- a one stop for all there is to know and do with ARIA -- is part of the campaign. Our overall budget is $15,000. We need your help now more than ever for this campaign and to continue our graphic challenges going forward not only in Rhode Island but elsewhere.
Who We Are
Ten years ago a handful of Rhode Island authors met casually to raise awareness for their own books and those created by others in the state. They formed ARIA – Association of Rhode Island Authors . Some publish traditionally, others choose the self-published route, and others are creating their first book. Today membership is 300-plus.
Word spread in tiny Rhode Island that local writers would speak pro bono at schools, writers’ workshops and libraries, participate year-round on panels, exhibit at outdoor and holiday festivals, read at poetry nights, mentor and contribute elsewhere to sell and discuss their original works. The annual, free admission Rhode Island Author Expo (ARIA’s signature event) showcases 135 authors and attracts over 1,000 readers.
What didn't grow was ARIA's graphics and branding identity -- a first-class logo, stationery, templates for flyers, inter-active website, social media image, banners, merchandise -- anything and everything that would corral ARIA's multi-faceted image under one design. Not any more. We're headed for a much larger stage to showcase who and what we are.
The Business Side of ARIA
Most writers labor at their craft. Few make a living from it, which makes it difficult to continuously ask ARIA authors for financial support to expand. Fear of stagnation, or disinterest, might result if the organization cannot grow. Now a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable education and arts organization, your GoFundMe donation is tax-deductible.
