Donations for Rabbi’s Family
on behalf of Aliza Knox

Our wonderful Rabbi Nathan and his beautiful family are going through grave medical challenges right now. In the days ahead, they will have significant and unexpected medical, hospital, nurse care and associated expenses.

We have set up this Gofundme fundraising page to provide a centralised way to support Rabbi and his family through donations, a way that is helpful to them right now and provides flexibility for their baby’s medical needs. Gofundme is 100% transparent, and there is a strict accounting and tracking of funds. The ONLY individual(s) who would use the funds would be Rabbi and his family.

Please note that although we have surpassed the original goal established, a review of current medical expenses makes it clear that the ongoing expenses are certain to surpass this amount. The Rabbi and his family are moved by your continuing support. By donating to this fund for Rabbi's family, you will help to provide a little relief from their many concerns and allow them to use the funds to pay crushing medical bills.

Please note: In order to protect Rabbi's family's privacy, we have not included photos of the family nor included the names of the family members. We would appreciate your keeping specific names of Rabbi's family out of your comments section. Thank you!

Thank you to the many individuals and families, many of whom have chosen to remain anonymous, who have given generous gifts during this crucial time.

Respectfully, from Friends and Agents acting on behalf of Rabbi and his family, including:  Aliza Knox, Anne Rifkin Graboi, Catherine Zemans, Christina Pao Cohen, Connie Garbourg, Dina Coppel, Georgina Bach, Ilana Rosenzweig, Lisa Lazarus, Mina Bregman, Natalie Tarnopolsky, Rebecca Weinrauch, Rosita Goldstein, Selena Freese Levitt and Stefanie Green

Please note that all gifts to this fund are only to be given from detached and disinterested parties out of admiration, respect and affection for the Rabbi and his family. No goods or services were exchanged for these donations.

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of Rabbi Nathan and His Family,

Shabbat shalom.

Thank you, again, for all of your tremendous support of Rabbi and his family. The support from, quite literally, around the world has been extraordinarily moving.

After one false start, the doctors gave the baby medical clearance to travel by plane a second time, and the baby and his parents safely traveled to Israel two days ago. Thankfully, the baby is now receiving medical treatments at a familiar hospital close to family.

Over the coming days and weeks, the Rabbi and his wife and baby will make medical decisions leveraging the generosity that you have shown. They continue to be strengthened by your continuing support, good thoughts and refuah shlema for the baby.

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of Rabbi Nathan and His Family from Around the Globe:

Thank you. Our most heartfelt gratitude for your thoughtful comments, prayers and generosity in this time of need. Many of you have not only donated, personally, but you have also asked friends and family to contribute as well. Rabbi and his family are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support for the baby. They have been touched by reading the comments and seeing how they have made an impact around the world. All of your contributions resulted in the fund reaching USD 200K right at sundown on Shabbat.

We hope the support continues to grow, as the actual medical and related expenses are more than likely to exceed this amount - and the family is deeply appreciative of the community's continued support.

Thank you to all donors. While the GoFundMe campaign to help Rabbi has been the most public, there have been other efforts to provide support at this critical time. Prior to the GoFundMe campaign, the UHC Community and the Jacob Ballas Congregation led campaigns to support Rabbi and his wife through the immediate financial challenges of hospitalising their baby. These generous donors include: Aliza Knox and Linton Atlas, Miriam and Dean Collins, Dina and Kevin Coppel, the Donosky Family, Stefanie and Jason Green, Batsheva Lazarus and Fred Hersch, Olga Iserlis, Mark and Amanda Jaffee, Emily Tabak and Colin Kim, Lisa Robins Pauze and Hervé Pauze, Jim and Rebecca Weinrauch, Alaina Appleman and Aaron Weiss, Matias and Lucia Zac and Danièle Zarka as well as members and leadership of the Jacob Ballas Congregation and the International Jewish Community (IJC) of Brussels. In addition, despite our desire to include the names of these supporters so that Rabbi and his family may be heartened by the community’s support, some supporters have preferred to remain anonymous.

Transfer of funds. Please note that GoFundMe requires that this fund be withdrawn into a US-based bank account. Therefore, Aliza Knox, a dear friend of Rabbi and an active lay leader and member of both the United Hebrew Congregation (of which Rabbi Nathan is the presiding rabbi) as well as the Jacob Ballas Congregation of Singapore, has generously and graciously agreed to have funds withdrawn to her US bank account and then moved to Rabbi Nathan’s bank account. That is why the name, Aliza Knox, shows up on the GoFundMe website as the beneficiary. In fact, Rabbi will be receiving 100% of the funds (minus credit card processing fees) from Aliza. (This update has been provided for the purpose of transparency for all donors.)

“Samantha Rodriguez” credit card statement posting error - Please do not dispute this charge. For those of you who donated to the fund during the first couple of days of the campaign, you may see something strange on your credit card statement. If you see “WPY-Samantha Rodriguez” - this is actually your donation to Rabbi and his baby. PLEASE DO NOT DISPUTE THIS CHARGE. The reason why the credit card statement says “WPY-Samantha Rodriguez" is that GoFundMe’s third party payment processor, WePay, made an error. Unfortunately, GoFundMe and WePay cannot retroactively "fix" what is printed on the credit card statement. However, GoFundMe has assured us that your actual dollar donations are safely going to Rabbi Nathan (and not Samantha Rodriguez). Please note that if you dispute this charge, the monies will be withdrawn from Rabbi Nathan and he will have to return the funds to GoFundMe. This was obviously an unfortunate error on the part of GoFundMe and its third party payment processor, WePay. If you would like to confirm the legitimacy of your charge, please feel free to contact the GoFundMe Customer Happiness Team directly at to verify that your donation went to Rabbi Nathan and his baby. Thank you for your understanding.

Update on the baby. Many of you have expressed deep concern for the baby. Thank you. For a number of reasons, including being able to be closer to family, as soon as the baby has been provided with a medical clearance to do so, the baby will move to Israel for his continuing care. Please keep the baby and his full recovery, as well as his loving parents and family, in your prayers.

Thank you again,
the Support Rabbi and His Family Donation Team
