Sponsor Mike's First Book

My name is Mike Skinner - I'm the Lead Pastor at First Colony Christian Church and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Theology at Houston Baptist University. I've been preaching for almost a decade and have been teaching biblical studies and theology in the classroom for six years. Over that time, I've had the opportunity to meet some incredible people and think deeply about the importance of the Christian faith. My greatest joy is helping someone understand how theology can influence their life and even change the world.

I've been writing a book (tentatively titled 'Theology Matters: The Life of Jesus from God's Perspective') that distills the most transformative truths and stories that I have been able to share over the course of my ministry. The book's goal is ambitious: to convince everyday Christians that understanding theological truths like the "hypostatic union" can be exciting and relevant to their day-to-day lives. I've been able to do this in preaching and teaching settings and I'm now hoping to accomplish it in print. This is where I need your help! 

I'm planning on publishing my book with Westbow Press - a division of Thomas Nelson and Zondervan. It is a unique opportunity to self-publish while also benefiting from the resources of such a well-established publisher. Additionally, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan are committed to reviewing Westbow titles and often sign them to a larger publishing deal. The money raised will go towards a customized publishing and marketing plan.

I was originally going to fund this project myself with honorariums from speaking engagements. However, this past year has left my wife and I struggling to pay medical bills after I had a seizure while driving. My friends have encouraged me to reach out for support so that this financial obstable will not get in the way of my ministry goals.
