Support in Johanna's Healing
Hi all.....My name is Sarah and I am starting a campaign to help my dear friend, Johanna White, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer.
I have had the pleasure of being friends with Johanna for over 2 decades. Those that know her agree, Johanna is one of those exceptionally lovely human beings whose presence is felt as a graceful and deeply caring and kind woman. She loves exploring life on this beautiful planet, working in the garden, long walks at the Reservoir. As you can see, she adores her chickens (and her other animals), and is deeply devoted to both family and friends.
In August of 2015, work was becoming increasingly difficult for Johanna. Shortly thereafter, Johanna was rushed to the hospital. Her kidneys were shutting down and it was necessary to have a procedure that placed tubes in her kidneys in order to drain fluid that was backing up. Upon further investigation, and a rather challenging and long hospital stay, it was discovered that she has a large, inoperable cancerous mass in and around her uterus.
Johanna is currently working carefully with doctors and various practitioners to treat the cancer and recover her health. Even though the cancer is rather advanced, we all have a genuine hope that she will be able to heal from this and be well again. Her longterm partner, Paul, has been by her side during this entire time. He too is suffering from his own debilitating physical challenges that he is addressing as well caring for Johanna.
During this time, neither of them have been able to work. They have downsized their small farm, sold their farm equipment, and exhausted their financial reserves in an effort to keep up with the bills. They are quickly running out of resources, so I decided to launch this outreach.
The money that will be raised will be going towards food, basic living expenses for Johanna (and Paul) and for Johanna's ongoing medical treatment.
It is my wish, my hope, my prayer, that Johanna (and Paul) have the ease of mind to continue on their healing journey without the stress of losing their home or being unable to continue necessary treatment.
Any and all amounts are so greatly appreciated! I thank you all in advance for your generosity monetarily and/or in sending Love her way!!
With love and gratitude,
The memorial for Johanna last Sunday was lovely! We couldn't have asked for a nicer gathering of honoring Johanna and sharing stories of how deeply Johanna had touched so many throughout her life.
So many people within the community came together to help bring this lovely memorial into being. Myself and Johanna's family would like to thank all of them...
--Allison and Frederic from the Cub Market for their generous gift of food.
--Marina Basil from the Gilded Carriage for her lovely food contribution and assistance in this department.
--Jay and Rita from Jarita's for their gifted floral arrangements.
--Anne and Len Sapiro and Mary Cameron for their beautiful floral arrangement gifts.
--Genia and Dom from Ulster Publishing for gifting the announcements placed in the local papers of the memorial, fundraising and news of Johanna's passing.
--The wonderful musicians: The Greg Douglas Band, Mark Rust & Julia Howl Haines
--Evelyn Meier for her help with table settings and signs.
--Maia Martinez for her help and contribution in the location of the memorial -- Arts Society of Kingston.
--Community members who donated at the memorial to assist Paul during this time of transition.
And thank you to all the many friends and family who helped bring it all about so beautifully and flawlessly!
We couldn't have done it without all the wonderful support and generosity of all of you. And for all those who weren't able to attend but who have been so kind and generous throughout these years in supooritng Johanna -- THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
We are continuing to get ready for the memorial / celebration of life service for Johanna White this Sunday, April 15th from 11-3. It will be held at the Arts Society of Kingston (ASK) @ 97 Broadway.
A Facebook event page was started as a way to let people know who hadn't heard and also to get a sense of how many people may be attending.
For those of you that are on Facebook and planning to come, will you click on the link below and select "going" in order to help us get a head count.
Thank you so much!
P.S. there's extra parking across the street from ASK @ the police station parking lot.
We will be having a memorial gathering for Johanna White on Sunday, April 15th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Arts Society of Kingston, 97 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
Friends and those who felt touched by Johanna are invited to share memories, appreciation, or how they felt touched by her. Our sharing time begins at 11:30 am. And, because we believe Johanna would want us to celebrate her life when sharing is complete, music will follow.
Johanna's family would love to capture the heart of this event in photo and video if possible. If anyone feels moved to volunteer to help in this way, please let me know via email or through facebook messenger.
Thanks to all who helped us bring this event into being!
We look forward to seeing you all there.
With much appreciation,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you of the passing of Johanna White. She passed away the morning of March 16th.
Life without Johanna doesn't seem real and we are all in the midst of adjusting to this...
Again, thank you all for your continued support on so many levels! Your kindness in words, thoughts, prayers and donations have offered Johanna and her family precious time together.
As I write this, Johanna's family is discussing the best way to offer a service in memory of her. We know that Johanna would want a celebration of her life instead of a focus on her passing.
Any donations would be tremendously helpful to offset the costs involved with the expenses for a service/memorial.
We will keep in touch about when and where a service for Johanna will be.
My heart is broken after reading this post.... and my heart is elated that Johanna is now free of the body she was in... Johanna was an exceptional human being who radiated a sense of peace to others. She will definitely be missed. Soar into the Light dearest sister!
