On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Juvenile Correctional Officer Maria Mora-Torres and her 11-year-old daughter Garis Torres were killed in a tragic car accident.
Maria, better known as Mora, served with the Fresno County Probation Department for over 18 years. She was initially assigned to the Elkhorn Boot Camp and later joined the Juvenile Justice Campus.
Maria was passionate about her job, and wanted the best for not only the youth she served, but also her co-workers. There are no words that can adequately express the sense of loss her friends in the department, as well as those in all of the agencies who serve the campus, feel at this time. The greater loss though is with Maria’s family, as they try to cope with the loss of this wonderful woman and her beautiful daughter.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they deal with this tragic loss.
El Sábado, Julio 7, 2018, la Oficial Correccional Juvenil, Maria Mora-Torres y su hija de 11 años, Garis Torres, fallecieron en un trágico accidente automovilístico.
Maria, mejor conocida como Mora, fue empleada con el Departamento De Probación del Condado de Fresno por más de 18 años. Inicialmente fue asignada al Elkhorn Boot Camp y después se unió al Centro de Justicia Juvenil.
Maria era apasionada sobre su trabajo, y quería hacer lo mejor no solamente por la juventud que ayudaba, sino también sus compañeros de trabajo. No hay palabras que puedan adecuadamente expresar la sensación de perdida que sienten sus amigos del departamento, al igual que todos los de varias otras agencias quienes sirven el centro. La mayor pérdida esta con la familia de Maria, mientras tratan de enfrentarse con la perdida de esta maravillosa mujer y su hermosa hija.
Nuestras oraciones están con su familia mientras enfrentan está perdida trágica.
