LYNDA'S STORY, WRITTEN BY HER HUSBAND NICK SPARGO

Timeline of Lynda’s treatment.

Lynda Spargo (Sparkle) a teacher at Sherard County Primary School suffered a brain haemorrhage at work on July 13th.
She's still in a coma. She's had various operations and is making very slow progress, but it's progress. We are nowhere near "out of the woods" yet.

Lynda's looking better today. She's still in a coma. They've changed her antibiotics and they seem to be working, the swelling / water retention has gone down significantly & her eyes are moving about 50% now, I think she'll start moving forward now.

No real change with Lynda this week. She seems to be slightly more responsive. Her temperature hasn't spiked recently but her heart rate is almost double what it should be but that seems to be normal for Lynda. They've removed her lumbar drain and have said that the brain infection is making slow progress, but it's progress, the antibiotics will take up to 6 weeks to take effect, this is week 2.

We met with the doc today. It's now 8 weeks, he says that Lynda is in & out of a coma, she has good & bad days re. Response. He says that the infection is going. Lynda is likely to be in her current state ( low response) for months. The tracheostomy is likely to be in for a few more weeks.

There’s no easy way to say this. We’ve had 2 meetings today, Lynda has breast cancer, she’s having a CT scan today to see if it’s spread. She’ll be moving out of the hospital and going to a care home in about a month.

Lynda is stable, the cancer hasn’t spread but they’re not willing to operate as it’ll be too traumatic. They’re hoping to move Lynda to a nursing home by December.
Lynda will never come home.

Myself, James, Charlotte & Dan would like to take this opportunity to thank all close friends, family, colleagues & all hospital staff at QMC & Leicester General hospital for their endless support.
Thank you

NICK

Message from kaisey - this is to raise money for a Melton family, who are going through an awful time, Lynda Spargo was a teacher at Shepard primary school, Melton, she became unwell and was rushed into hospital in July 2017, Lynda is still in hospital and unable to do anything for herself and is unresponsive,  they are hoping for her to be moved into a nursing home in melton shortly as she needs 24/7 care. I won't go into detail as unsure of how much detail Nick and family want on here, but it will be updated when Nick writes what he wants to be shared. The funds raised will all go to the Spargo family, for them to spend in whichever way they feel is necessary. Lynda has done so much for children all over Melton, being a fantastic teacher who goes above and beyond, and is known for being a fantastic friend and an incredible person all round. Nick is a firefighter and has continued to work hard to support himself, Lynda and 3 children throughout this difficult time. As you can imagine it is such a hard time for them, we can make it a bit easier, just a small amount could all add up.
