Mr. Minutoli, who has been a P.E. teacher at Spring Hill Elementary for over 15 years, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia.  He and Mrs. Minutoli will be traveling to New York where they will be staying for 5 months as he undergoes bone marrow transplant treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Minutoli family appreciates all of the prayers and good wishes that have already been pouring in from the Spring Hill community.  At this difficult time, they are in need of financial assistance as they face mounting costs related to the cancer treatment, lost wages, travel, temporary housing, special dietary items, meals, and other living expenses.  If you are able to help out, any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Please share this message with any past or present Spring Hill families and friends. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated by the Minutoli family.

Sincerely,

Pamela Fox & Tammy Thornsbury

This past month has been filled with some setbacks and a trip to the emergency room that diagnosed a blood clot in Mr. Minutoli’s leg. While the blood clot is under control, the transplant has been postponed once again. This is due to the PLL still holding on (currently at 20%) in the marrow. On a more positive note, recent tests revealed that Mr. Minutoli is not resistant to the antibody therapy he was on and will continue with this for another 8 doses here in Virginia to see if it can lower the percent of PLL to under 5% (the goal for the transplant to occur). If we find that he has hit a plateau, the next step would be to switch drug therapy or possibly add chemotherapy to help boost a positive response. In the meantime, Mr. Minutoli’s brother’s visit at MSK in NYC went well and they were able to collect the stem cells needed for the transplant.
My family and I are extremely grateful for the tremendous amount of love and support we have received from everyone.

Thank you so much for continuing to keep Mr. Minutoli in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Angela Minutoli

On behalf of my family, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support and encouragement we have received from our Spring Hill Community, neighborhood and beyond. We are deeply touched by the uplifting and heartwarming messages and overwhelmed with gratitude for the generous donations. Spring Hill ES is truly a family and we are so lucky and blessed to have worked at such a wonderful school for the past 15 years. We are very appreciative of Pamela Fox and Tammy Thornsbury for starting this GoFundMe. The love, prayers and assistance have fueled us to push forward and carry on during this difficult time in our lives.

Mr. Minutoli’s leukemia is an extremely rare and typically aggressive cancer. He is currently receiving antibody therapy intravenously as a bridge to allogenic stem cell transplant which will be occurring at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. Luckily, Mr. Minutoli’s brother is a match and he is here, ready to go to MSK to start the donation process from his peripheral stem cells. Due to recent test results, the transplant itself that was scheduled for later this month has been postponed. In the meantime, Mr. Minutoli will continue with his IV therapy so that his numbers will get to where they need to be before moving on to the next step. He will continue with his visits to Sloan Kettering for extensive testing and updates regarding the rescheduling of his transplant. We are blessed to have such a fantastic team at MSK working for Micky.

Please continue to keep Mr. Minutoli in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Angela Minutoli
