Support for the McLaren Family

On Monday morning, 7/30/18, Tom McLaren, who has been married to my friend of 16 years, sustained critical injuries in a crash on 128S between the Woburn rotary and Winn Street during rush hour.  He remains at Lahey Clinic in Burlington (the closest trauma center) unconscious with a breathing tube. Amongst other injuries, he has a broken clavicale, broken ribs, broken bones in his face and skull, and a broken humerus,

This family is like family- their two kids are my kids' ages and Tom is well known and liked from his work in Newton at the Burr After School Program.  He is a kind, quiet, fun-loving, and caring man with a silly sense of humor- a great dad and a devoted husband.  Prognosis is unclear but recovery will be long,  he is still unconscious 55 hours later.   People have offered to help the family and both being teachers, they would not want the help, but they (Wanda) will graciously accept it. The Newton community I know wants to help and the Wilmington one will too.  Wanda teaches public school in Somerville and is an active member of the Lesley University alumni community and the UU Church of Reading.

Please help as you are able- this is a family who has taken a grandparent in their home, too, and who have two wonderful kids with special needs.  All money will go to medical expenses and lost wages at this point.  Rehabilitation expenses, etc. may be added in the future and that use would be added here, too, as part of an "update".
