About one month ago Savannah started fighting what her parents thought was a routine illness. When symptoms didn't improve they found out their daughter was in for a fight that no battle on the lacrosse field had prepared her for - cancer. Savannah was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lympho Blastic Lymphoma and is in for an extensive course of treatment that is expected to last for years.
The family is blessed with having access to great insurance but it's safe to say that insurance doesn't begin to scratch the surface of the costs associated with having a child in the hospital fighting cancer. They need support to pay for everything from co-pays to parking fees, hospital food to travel expenses associated with any second opinions they seek out.
Jon, Savannah's dad is a firefighter, her mom Jackie is a teacher. They aren't the kind of folks to ask for help, but right now we as a community need to wrap them in our love and support.
