Paweł Jaśkowiec is 32 years old, he’s been fighting diabetes since 2007. At the same time his doctors found out that his liver was malfunctioning - this turned out to be cirrhosis.
His condition deteriorated, and by the end of October 2014 his body had become weaker. He was rushed to his local hospital with severe pain in his lower back. Here, Paweł was kept in for observation. He suffered unimaginable pain while his medical team struggled to diagnose him. Paweł’s condition became critical, the following Monday he was transferred to another hospital where his right kidney had to be removed. Before his kidney was removed, he was also diagnosed with sepsis, probably due to the delay in his treatment.
Left with one kidney, cirrhosis and diabetes, his body was under severe stress. He could not produce a sufficient amount of calcium to support his bones. He now suffers from Charcot Foot. Charcot Foot is a rare side effect of diabetes, it’s affects include fractures and dislocations of bones and joints that occur with minimal or no known trauma (like standing up).
But Paweł is a fighter, he hasn’t given up. He’s still a young man. Paweł doesn’t want to use a wheelchair and works hard to have a normal life. The only way to improve his ability to walk is frequent rehabilitation. He receives 2 hours a week funded by social welfare It simply isn’t enough, but he can’t afford additional exercises.
He is also an awesome artist, who I admire! He loves DYI and tattoos which is one of his former professions. That valuable, creative human being found himself in unimaginable situation. I learned from him, to respect every small thing to which we are so ungratful on daily basis.
Paweł has a strong will to live! His goals have changed…His dreams have changed… What he dreams of now is is more physiotherapy and his goal is to buy a car adjusted to his disabilities.
His biggest wish is to get a job so he can meet new people and try to socialize again. I want to help Paweł to achieve that goals. To me he is not just a story, he has been my friend since high school and I want help him as much as possible. I believe we can turn his luck around.
Please donate and help hime live again!
