Support for Pilar Sherrill & Family

Pilar went to the emergency room on December 19th with fever and severe abdominal pain. They transported her via ambulance to the hospital in Gainesville, Georgia. They suspected some kind of infection and pneumonia. They did surgery to take tissue samples. The infection is much worse than they thought and was spreading rapidly. It's a very rare flesh eating bacteria called Necrotizing Fasciitis. They have performed multiple surgeries removing large amounts of tissue and skin down to the muscle. As of now, she is in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator and in critical, but stable condition. On December 22nd she was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where she she will need to undergo additional surgeries to remove infected skin and tissue. If all goes well and they can clear up this infection, she will need extensive skin grafts and reconstructive surgery and will remain in the hospital for at least 4-6 more weeks.

Pilar is a loving wife to my brother Brad, and mother to my precious niece Ellie (7) and sweet nephews Ben (10) and Jack (4). I am hoping that by starting this campaign we can support Pilar and her family by helping to cover some of the expenses they will incur because of these tragic circumstances that have befallen them. These include: medical deductibles, out-of pocket medical expenses, potential loss of wages for medical leave to care for Pilar, and possible childcare expenses as she recovers.

I've set a fundraising goal and I hope that we can surpass this by leaps and bounds and support Pilar's family by lifting any financial burdens that this tragedy may bring.

Most importantly, we need prayer. For Pilar, that she can beat this and make a full recovery. For Brad, to give him the strength to make it through the curveball that life has thrown his family. And lastly, for sweet Ben, Ellie and Jack, who will not have their mom home with them this Christmas and who will have to adjust to life without their mom in the coming weeks.

This will be a tough journey ahead but we have faith that God will see them through. There has been such an outpouring of love and support already. I am truly thankful.
