Support for Officer Matt Crosby

Donation protected
My name is Dennis Hess. I have been a close friend of Matt's parents,  John and Virginia for more than forty years. I've literally known Matt his entire life. I'm proud that Matt introduces me as his Uncle. We all feel more like family than just friends. I remember watching Matt grow from a funny, outgoing little guy running around the house through his years in elementary and middle school. Matt was always a very good athelete  and a particularily good youth hockey player. I loved going to his games and watching him in to his teens playing as a tough, gritty defenseman for his beloved CBC High School and representing St. Louis on their top youth hockey team, the AAA Junior Blues. Matt was always the ulitmate team player. His teammates knew that they could always count on Matt to be there. Whatever it took, no matter what the concequences to him, he would be there.
As a young adult Matt became a police officer. He again was a member of another team and truly another family. Matt fit right in with the family of First Responders. He was one of that group of people that we can always count on. One of the men and women that come and help us. The ones that don't ask questions. The people that will do whatever it takes to help us, to protect us when we aren't able to so ourselves.
I ask you to please read the attached article about Matt.  Matt was shot  and paralyzed 6 years ago while responding to a call for a domestic disturbance. Immediately after that terrible night the St. Louis community showed an outpouring of care and concern for Matt.  A number of local fundraising events were held and groups including the Backstoppers, Responder Rescue and others were a blessing to Matt and his family.  Little did we know what his situation would be six years down the road. The article attached below has prompted a renewed interest and caring for Matt.
That interest is what has prompted this campaign. We are hoping that through GoFundMe and more local support we may soon be able to build a home for Matt and his two sons.
There are no words that I could possibly write to thank you, in advance, for your consideration to help Matt and his sons. But here goes, truly from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
