Support for Mike & Karen Langlois
Donation protected
On November 10th Mike was taken by ambulance and admitted to the ICU at University Hospital in Saskatoon. In Saskatoon they decided to take him by air ambulance him to Edmonton for the best treatment and care possible.
Currently Mike is in Mazankowski Heart Institute at the U of A hospital. Mike has a hole in his heart which has led to the blood direction in the heart being reversed. This has resulted in the right side of his heart being very aggravated and increased lung pressure to ten times what it is supposed to be. Very intense medicine is being given through a central line to hopefully reduce the pressure in his lungs. It is slowly being increased over 72 hours. If this medicine works he may be able to stay on it for the rest of his life. This is the ideal outcome.
Plan B is a heart and lung transplant or to repair the heart and do a lung transplant at the same time.
While Mike is in the hospital, Karen is needing accommodations so she can be with him. They are also having to take time off of teaching and other work, and with the additional medical expenses such as emergency transportation, they are going to be feeling the financial stress. Any support is appreciated.
