Jackson is 16. He was having seizures and migraines for years, not knowing what they were. Being the selfless guy that he is he down played his symptoms so no one would worry. Last Novemeber he finally had an MRI that showed a fairly large brain lesion that will most likely require surgery this summer.

It has restricted many of his daily routines as a teenager and requires several diagnostic and maintenance appointments monthly to Miami Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

Jackson has amazing parents that both work full time to support him and his younger sister.

They have health insurance, but it only covers so much and the medical bills are piling up. I am amazed by their strength while going though this. His mother never leaves his bedside while he is hospitalized and his father is always willing to make the long drive to be there as well.

Jackson is in the Environmental Science Academy at school, he played football on the high school team and has hopes to play again. He also loves photography and is quite good at it.

He has been my daughters boyfriend and best friend for over a year. We consider him to be family and love having him around. He is kind, funny, smart and exactly the kind of guy I had hoped my daughter would be with.

Brain wise Jackson is doing Awesome. We have jad a bit of an unexpected throw back though. Jackson ended up with peripheral nerve damage from being on his right side during the almost 10 hour surgery. His right leg has damage which has caused chronic pain since he awoke from anethesia. This neuropathy pain is tremendous and has caused weakness, weight loss and muscle deterioration . As we have tried numerous things to relieve pain nothing has been successful thus far. He starts PT tomorrow and is also doing some Active Relief techniques now and will try acupuncture soon with a local Dr. We will wake each day and fight this battle with him until he is fully repaired and back at being his active, happy and life loving self.

I do believe that everything happens for a reason. I also believe that when facing your fears, a strength you never knew existed all of the sudden appears. Faith in goodness and healing, the love and bond our family has and above all the belief that our Angels are with us and our lone footprints in the sand are because something greater is carrying us through....that is what the last few months have taught me. Two days, our son in two days is having brain surgery.....a mountain I never wanted to climb. Please keep our son in your prayers.

Jackson's surgery is in 8 days!! To say we are doing great would be a straight out lie. This is tough...all the way around. Our family has become closer and communication is wide open. We are all anxious and scared of the unknown of course. Love, strength, courage and have have been our stepping stones. Please keep our son in your prayers. Much, much love
The Jacobs
