Support for Gabe and Sheri

$25,000 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 258 people in 15 months
Created May 19, 2018
On Thursday, May 17, 2018 Gabe Rosescu and Sheri Niemegeers were travelling to Nelson, BC to visit friends for the weekend. Unfortunately there was a massive mudslide which sent Gabe and Sheri's car off the road and down a 3000ft clif. By some miracle, the car got hung up part way and did not plunge the entire way down.

Sheri was taken to Creston, BC where she remains in the hospital with a broken sternum and ankle. Gabe was airlifted to Kelowna where he remains in serious but stable condition with bruising on his brain, broken orbital bones, broken nasal bones, broken cheek bones, a fractured jaw, and partial vision in left eye.

All funds raised will be put toward expenses incurred as a result of this tragic accident.

Well we have some updates in the Sheri&Gabe story. Sheri has been discharged from hospital in Trail and will be making her way home today. She continues her lengthy healing process with her broken sternum and broken ankle. This tough prairie girl will have a new friend for the next while involving wheels and walking!
Gabe is being wheeled in for surgery in Vancouver as we speak for his intense facial/skull surgery which will put Humpty Dumpty back together again. The surgery is scheduled for a grueling 6 hours and has some moderate to above moderate risks with all the internal work that needs to be done. We ask you keep Gabe in your thoughts and prayers.
Also today my lovely wife/Gabes sister Andrea is flying home today as work and family at home are calling, safe travels my dear.
I will remain in Vancouver to be with Gabe for post op support. I will update in the next day or two.
Thanks again everyone for the donations and kind words and prayer.

First off a heartfelt thanks for all your generosity. Sheri and Gabe remain in hospital but are doing okay. Gabe will be transferred to Vancouver later in the week where one of Canada's top surgeons will perform some repairs and reconstruction to Gabe's skull and eye area.
Although progress has been made the two still have a lengthy road to full recovery and we are cautiously optimistic that everything will continue to improve.
Once again from our families thanks so much and because of the huge medical expenses we will continue to leave this page open.
If there is any surplus after the bills are paid our family will donate the money back to the emergency services providers in B.C.
Finally God Bless Marty, Dave and the other bystanders that made the rescue we are forever greatful.
