Support for Fatherless Children

Two days before Christmas, on December 23rd 2016, my 35 year old husband, best friend, and soulmate, Sam, was shot to death, the final shot in his face. He was killed in our home, feet away from of our two year old son, Magnús, and six month old Rúna, and me. My husband was killed by the police when the police raided our house in the early morning looking to seize a computer.

We met in grade 7 and have been best friends since that moment. He was a our families support system, always patient and loving to our kids.

Our children are compassionate, smart and beautiful, because of Sam and his love for his family, his brilliant mind, and his devotion to making the world a better place for everyone. Although he was only alive to be with his children for a short time, I believe they are who they are today, becasue of his positive influence and spiritual personality.

He was a talented computer programer and a brilliant thinker. He was very creative and would build robots from scratch for the kids to play with, driving them around the house, and letting our son control them. The children loved their father, "Pabbi". Our daughter was often happier spending time with him, rather than me. Our son thought he was the coolest dad on the planet, and whenever his toys ran out of batteries, he would leave them on Sam's chair so he would see it and fix it. He is too young to know what happened to his father, but he knows something is wrong, and he still calls for him today, hoping he will come home.

Once curious and friendly to new people, our son is now noticebly traumatized by what happened that morning when he and my daughter woke up to the police yelling and breaking into their bedroom with assult weapons drawn, and then witnessing their fathers death.  When confronted with new people, our son now becomes irritated and upset and cowers and hides behind me or tries to leave the room.

Sam worked hard to provide financially for our family. We had plans and he wanted to do things for me and the children, he got pleasure out of providing the best he could for us. I am a stay at home mom with a small graphic design business on the side so that I could work from home. The police seized all of our computers along with all of my work and family photos and videos, the only things I could remember Sam by. I am unable to work now, and because of the medias negative and misleading opinions, I have lost most of my clients as well.

This tragedy has left me alone to financially support our children, deal with the loss of of my lifelong partner and try to heal ourselves after witnessing this extremely traumatic experience. I constantly worry about my children and what they remember from that day, and how I will explain to them what happened to their father.

Please find it in your heart to help me and my children in this time of need and spiritual healing.
