Support for Dog Walker Viciously Attacked

Donation protected
UPDATE - 3/26/19 - Thank you all so much for your generous support!

Our beloved dog walker was brutally attacked in an armed carjacking on Jan 17 while protecting our pets.  She was transporting our dogs in in her car when two people tried to steal it.  She risked her life and safety to keep our dogs from being stolen -- and was viciously beaten in the head with a metal pipe.

She suffered severe head injuries and spent 5 days in the hospital.  Some of her medical costs will be reimbursed by the DC Crime Victims' Compensation Fund, but she and her adult daughter will both need support for lost wages and other costs associated with her recovery.   (Note: our families plan to continue to pay her while she recovers, but her daughter will need to take leave from work to care for her.  She and her family wish to remain anonymous to protect their privacy. )

She is like family to all of us, having cared for our pets for many years and spending time in our homes and with our families.  Her kindness and generosity are astounding -- as so poignantly evidenced by her selflessness in protecting our pets from attack.  We hope to provide her with financial support that can make the recovery from this terrible tragedy a little easier for her and her family.
