I have been admitted into an Architecture summer program at UC Berkeley and need help with paying for the program costs and living expenses. Please consider donating if you are able to or sharing this with your social networks.
My name is Eisen Ipac and I am a graduating senior at Pomona College. On campus, I’ve been involved with the Draper Center for Community Partnerships and have led many activities and programs related to community engagement, like working with underrepresented high school students through PAYS and leading an alternative spring break trip in San Francisco. I've also worked for the Advancement Office as their Beacon intern and have helped organize the Summer Welcome Parties and Family Weekend among other things. I have co-coordinated the 5K Dream Run, which aims to fundraise scholarships for undocumented high school seniors.
As a DACA-mented, low-income student myself, I have been financially independent since my first year of college, supporting both my younger sister, also in college, and myself. On top of my extracurriculars, I juggled working three jobs every semester and at times took on a full-time job off-campus. Throughout my time in undergrad, I constantly struggled to just get by, so this time I hope to focus on myself and my career. This summer, I will be working with PAYS for the last time, but I would also like to get the opportunity to focus on my passion in architecture and design. I am fortunate to have been admitted into a summer introductory program for Architecture at Berkeley, called [IN]Arch, which would be my very first, hands-on exposure to Architecture, and I am so excited to just learn, with and from the people around me during the program. In the next 2-3 years, I will be applying to a Master’s program, and [IN]Arch will help me develop valuable, technical skills to build a competitive portfolio.
The program tuition and total cost is $4,458, and I was given a partial scholarship of $350 by the program. Your donation will go towards these costs as well as housing and meals for the duration of the program (6 weeks). Thank you for reading and thank you for all your help, in sharing and in donating.
