Dave’s journey to being cancer free

Donation protected

Dave was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer in April 2019. In June, he started 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, which seemed to be successful. We were thrilled when his team of doctors decided to move forward with surgery in August to remove the tumor and reconstruct his esophagus. Unfortunately, his surgeon was unable to perform the surgery after finding active cancer cells in his lymph nodes near his liver. His medical team made the decision to start him on a more aggressive form of chemotherapy, and to place a medical port in his chest so they could administer this chemotherapy for 2 days while he was at home, which happens every other week. Because of the medical port, and the effects this chemotherapy has on his body, Dave has been unable to work and has been placed on disability through his employer.

Dave lives with his girlfriend Missy, and the two have been solely relying on her income to keep up on bills and everyday expenses since his cancer has made him unable to work. Unfortunately these expenses have caught up with them. Dave has a long road ahead of him to becoming cancer free, and will be having surgery again soon to remove the tumors, which will mean more medical expenses for his recovery. Missy is working as much as possible to make ends meet, but it’s still not enough.

We all know Dave is strong and WILL beat this cancer, but his focus needs to be on his health, and not worrying about how to pay bills. We are asking for any donations to help with Dave’s medical expenses, groceries, and gas money for him to get to Cleveland every 2 weeks for his treatments.

Thank you all for your support!
