Not sure about you, but I'm REALLY happy with the decision by Dick's Sporting Goods to stop selling assault style-rifles and advocate for common sense practices to reduce gun violence. I don't want to JUST buy more of their goods, I want to pay it forward. So, let's buy their sporting goods and give them to kids in Chicago!
I put in a call to a friend at the Off the Streets Club (OTSC) on the West Side of Chicago. OTSC is looking for equipment to jumpstart their roller hockey program (I have their shopping list). Let's make it happen for them.
On Friday, March 16, I'm planning a shopping spree at the Dick's Sporting Goods on Clybourn with staff and volunteers from OTSC. You're welcome to join in person and purchase goods on your own or make a donation and I'll do it on your behalf. I'll take care of delivery. Message for details if you'd like to join us!
Your donation helps create a refuge from the gun violence that touches the lives of so many kids in Chicago’s West side. Thanks in advance for supporting Chicago youth while taking a stand on gun violence in our community!
Seeing the students in Parkland, FL courageously speak out for change has been an inspiration for me. Those students and others across the country represent our future. We must hear them, invest in them, protect and support them. I'm starting now.
ABOUT THE OTSC: Founded in 1900, Off The Street Club is Chicago’s oldest boys and girls club. They currently serve more than 3,000 kids in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country, West Garfield Park.
