Support Anthony and Megan

In the spring of 2018 Anthony started experiencing abdominal pain.  The pain continued to increase over the summer and other more troubling symptoms made themselves known.

Finally,  in June Anthony decided that enough was enough and went to seek medical help.  The doctor decided that a colonoscopy was needed, and on July 9th the procedure was performed at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

A large mass was discovered in his bowel.  The Doctor performing the procedure explained that the mass was likely malignant, and that he himself did not feel experienced enough to remove the mass.  Another procedure was scheduled to have the mass removed on July 17th by a more experienced surgeon.

The procedure was apparently a success, but the pain in Anthony's abdomen remained unchanged.  He returned to his regular physician to find out why he was still experiencing the debilitating pain even after having the mass removed.

He has had over 25 hospital visits and 8 procedures since, and the pain remains.  Pathology performed on the mass removed on July 17th discovered that it was pre-cancerous.  In November another pre-cancerous mass was removed from the same location.

The latest treatment consisted of nerve blocks performed at a Pain Management clinic.  The first was an  intercostal nerve block, an injection next to his spine.  This seemingly had no effect.

A TAP block was performed on February 6th.  This lessened the pain for the remainder of that day, but unfortunately the pain returned the very next morning.

On Wednesday, February 13th Anthony will once again see his regular physician to discuss further treatment options.

Since July 12th, Anthony has been unable to work.  He has rarely even been able to leave his home, unless attending a medical appointment, due to the pain.

Until recently, Anthony was on short term disability, and while his pay was much less than when he was able to work, with the help of a loan and Megan's part-time income at a local grocery store they were able to keep themselves afloat, barely.

As of January 8th, Anthony has been moved to long term disability.  The entire claims process had to be started again, and he has yet to be paid as of February 11th.

Anthony and Megan never expected that his illness would continue for such a long time.  They tried valiantly for months to keep his illness as private as possible and to keep their heads above water.  Despite careful planning and taking out a loan, they now face a financial crisis.

We are asking for money to help support Anthony and Megan during this trying time.  The funds received from this campaign will be used to help pay medical bills, as well as pay to keep a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.

We know that Anthony has made an impact on many people's lives.  He grew up in Grygla, MN with many great friends.  He worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for many years, only leaving after getting married so that he could be closer to home.  He still speaks of his time and the friends he made while working across North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.  He was passionate about railroading, just as he is now passionate about Saw Filing, which he did for Potlatch Land and Lumber in Bemidji, MN until his illness.

Please, help your friends survive this crisis.
