Support Amy's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
My mom, Amy (Whitaker) Worthington, had a massive ischemic stroke on June 18th. An ischemic stroke is caused by a blockage in an artery within the brain, usually by a blood clot. The doctors don't know exactly what caused her stroke. But it damaged the left side of her brain and paralyzed the right side of her body. It also caused her to lose her ability to speak, swallow, and eat. She is in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
My mom is a single mother of three teenagers and works as a medical coder. I just finished my freshman year at the University of Kentucky and my brothers are in high school. Her children and her mother, Patty Whitaker, are the focus of her daily life. Sadly, this medical tragedy will affect her ability to work, drive, and perform everyday tasks.
I have started this GoFundMe Campaign along with my mom's brother, Paul, and her long-time friend, Jessie, to help her with medical expenses and general financial support (mortgage, bills, school expenses, groceries, etc.) as she recovers. We anticipate her long-term medical expenses will surpass our initial financial goal. But we are hopeful that this campaign will alleviate some of her financial burden so she can recovery with minimal stress.
So thank you all for your support and prayers. Paul, Jess, and I will keep you posted on her progress through Notifications on this page. Please check back often and share with your friends and family on social media and via email. The more people who know about Amy's situation, the more good vibes and prayers will come her way. Thank You! Love, Taylor
