Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to be a Rock & Roll musician, singing or playing a guitar in a rock band. I joined choir in 4th grade and always had a marvelous time singing during practices and at concerts. When I started high school, I joined my school's band and jazz band, and found my voice through the saxophone. Once I performed for the first time I knew that playing jazz was how I could express myself to the world. I practiced relentlessly. Four fast years later, and I found myself to be a high school senior. I have had a very successful career; winning awards at multiple jazz band competitions, being a member of the Iowa State University Honor Choir for two years, and being a member of many other jazz bands, including the Iowa All-State Jazz Band, the SEIBA Honor Jazz Band, and the Southeast Iowa Jazz Band under the direction of Jerry Tolson, among others. I recently auditioned and got accepted into the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL, to  major in Jazz and Contemporary Music Studies. I knew that when I first looked into colleges seriously over a year ago, that this was the place I needed to be. The world that the CCPA creates for musicians is one of indescribable measures. It would be an incredible experience to attend this college, but I need help. With the total cost being roughly $45,000 (which includes tuition and room and board), the scholarship that I've been awarded (and that I am extremely honored to have received) only contributes to a small portion of this cost. It would mean the world to me for anybody to help contribute to my education. Any amount contributed, low or high, would be immensely appreciated. Music is one of mankind's greatest creations, and I hope to spread its beauty until the day that I die.
