Support a former Sul Ross student from Bryan, TX

Ta'Mya Foley is a vibrant, beautiful 11 year old girl who has lived with her Aunt, Barbara Foley for the past 10 years.  Like any other 5th grader, getting up daily to get dressed for school, Ta'Mya begin to start having severe pain in her lower back.  After her Aunt Barbara noticed an unusual spot on her back, she got concerned and sought out medical advice from her doctors about it.  They initially told her it was just a birth mark and nothing to worry about.  Overtime, however, the spot began to grow and Ta'mya's pain also increased.  Therefore, they took her to a cancer and disease specialist in Temple, Texas, where doctors confirmed what her Aunt Barbara was very concerned about, that the spot was indeed growing and was cancer.  Since then, she has had two back surgeries and required to have two more in order to ensure that is removed in its entirety.  These surgeries are necessary to ensure that there is not chance of the cancer returning.  There are many unexpected costs that arise with a sick child.  Her Aunt Barbara takes Ta'Mya back and forth to Temple weekly to check in with the specialist on her progress.  Ta'Mya also suffers from severe asthma and has a very low immune system which can leave her vulnerable to infection or illness when around others that might be ill.  Ms. Foley says that there have been many teachers, counselors, and office staff that have gone out of their way to stop by and visit Ta'Mya.  She says that they are so grateful for the support system that Bryan ISD has developed for Ta'Mya, as she has been homebound for several months.  She is also grateful of any additional support that might be donated on behalf of Ta'Mya and her future medical expenses, travel expenses and her road to recovery.  Thanks in advance and God bless you.
