Sup port Don Lewis

Don Lewis was a true leader and very honorable man. He helped with the community in many ways by teaching beautiful music and trying to elevate everyone by opening his doors to anyone. He would never turn away anyone or close his doors when it came to music. His love for music touched so many people in so many ways from young to old, and stretched all the way around the globe. He played with many different people in different bands. His only Goal was to play what he referred to as his "baby". Him and his trumpet taught students both in MATC, on the streets, in his home, and recently in the Young Urban Jazz Café . Race or gender never affected him when it came to music I like to believe that even his words had rhythm. In his life he also served our country in the Army where he was performing music in the band as well. This Veteran was so determined to help the community that he bought many properties and gave people chances that most wouldn't. He also acquired a corner store called the LewisTown Food since 1985 that we know as the Jazz Café. Even though his life was cut down short at 65, he did so much and touched so many lives in so many ways. We would like to recognize him and give back to the family that has endured so much through this tragedy. In this tragedy he was viciously murdered by his own employee that he provided food, shelter, and a salary for. He went to work early October 7th in the morning. Opened his store and went along with his normal day, and ended up slayed by his own gun in the Café from this employee. Since this tragedy erupted word has spread of the cold hearted nature behind this man who left a hole in so many hearts. His act was so random to where many are not only asking "why" but also how could this happen? His legacy will go on and every time jazz is played we will always think of our Angel that has been called back to play his beautiful music in heaven.
