Sunday Salon Next Generation

Donation protected
This year marks the 16th year of Sunday Salon readings. Your participation in Sunday Salon over the years has enabled us to share incredible prose, poetry, and music with the world. We have held over 150 Salon readings, and witnessed the work of over 600 emerging and established writers, poets, and artists to include Pulitzer Prize, Booker Prize, American Book Award winners like Marlon James, Roxane Gay, Jessica Hagedorn, Hettie Jones, Paul Lisicky, and Reese Okyong Kwon. We have expanded to other cities like Chicago, South Florida, and Nairobi. And we’ve even published online a semi-annual Zine featuring powerful literary work covering everything from offshore oil spills to personal and political thresholds and antidotes -- all because of you. Thank you!

Behind all of this success is a core of committed, tireless volunteers, and coordinators and a website designed in 2004 (SundaySalon.com) that was home to our events, videos, author bios, SalonZine, news, interviews, articles, and reviews. The website has served us well over the years, but was hacked this year and “broken” beyond repair. Thankfully, we still have all the data and media, but it needs to be redesigned for the mobile, modern era. That’s where you come in!

We want to raise $10K to redesign the SundaySalon.com website. Why this much? SundaySalon.com was a custom designed, cutting edge, complex website when it launched in 2005, before the mobile web took shape. It houses a multi-author, multi-city database full of pages, posts, articles, video, photos, interviews, reviews, events, bios and zines. Reorganizing all this content in an easy to access fashion for today’s mobile audience will require professional expertise to architect, design, develop, test and execute a new site. We’ll be applying the latest web design practices to deliver a beautiful, mobile SundaySalon.com experience to you in early 2019. (With all of this going on, $10K is a reasonable sticker price in the web design world. A bargain even!)

I know, writers have no money, right? Yet most of you know at least one patron or business or publisher who does and would be willing to support a cause that has had such an amazing impact on the writing community. Would you reach out and ask if they would be willing to make a donation to Sunday Salon? (We are not an official 501c non-profit, so your/their donation would not be tax deductible. Sorry.)

You have my deepest gratitude for your donation and support!

Sincerely,
Nita Noveno
