Summer Faith was born a little bit early (3 weeks) and has been a fighter since the beginning, she knew what she was doing when she came into the world since her cord was around her neck. She is now facing some medical issues and mom and dad can use a little bit of help.

Summer appeared to be a bit jaundice but it's more than that, her liver is not functioning properly and she has a teeny tiny gallbladder, they believe she has been diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Bilary Atresia.  Due to this she has been at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo and was transferred to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital on September 18 where she will undergo the Kasai procedure. It's not a 100% guarantee and she could end up needing a transplant anyways.

We're asking for a little help for this hard working family, with the added expenses of traveling back and forth to now Pittsburgh finances will be tight. Not only are mom and dad worried about Summer but she also has 2 older brothers and an older sister at home. In the next few days Summer will have to undergo surgery. This little peanut has been a fighter since she was born and I know she will continue to fight.

Just a little update, not much new to report Summer is still waiting for her perfect donor to be found. In the mean time some really awesome people are putting together a benefit to aide the family once the transplant and months of hospital living take place. Don't forget to follow Summer's Journey on Facebook at Summer Faith's Journey.

Hey everyone guess what Summer is in Pittsburgh and will hopefully be getting her new liver! Mom got the call today that they had a liver and they are now in Pittsburgh safe and sound. With this starts the at least 3 month stay and costs of meals and travel back and forth for mostly dad. Let's help this family out. I will try and update often so that all the wonderful people out there following Summers journey and praying for her know how shes doing. She may be getting a new liver but that doesn't mean shes out of the woods just yet.

Sorry I haven't updated in a little bit. Our little fighter is currently home from Pittsburgh and has been able to be with her family for the most part. She's had a couple of fevers which has given her 2 quick stays at Oshei's Children's Hospital. One good thing that has come from the hospital stays is that Summer has been moved up the list with her numbers on the donor registry. It looks like she will be home for this Christmas as unfortunately the potential donor isn't a perfect match. To this wonderful person who was tested, I say thank you, thank you for being willing to do the most self-less thing a person could do for someone they don't know. Good news tho there is another potential donor, so fingers crossed Summer will have a match soon into the New Year. Although Summer is home there are still so many extra expenses from extra trips out of town for doctor's appointments. I know everyone is getting ready for Christmas, but share this, help out if you can any little bit is so very much appreciated. They still have a long road a head of them of hospital stays and travel, at least 3 months. The final update is from Summer's mom Maria, please like and follow Summer Faith's Journey on Facebook.
Haven't posted since she was discharged. She is doing well. She was very fussy last night and up alot. I think it was just her belly and gas. She is Still on antibiotics for the fever that she had. She has a checkup Wednesday. So we will see how that goes.
Potential donor update. She went, got tested but unfortunately they had to decline her. It's not the news either of us was hoping. But for her to even fill out the paperwork and go get tested is something that i could never repay. You are an angel!! Thank you!! You will forever be in our hearts.
There is a 2nd potential donor now! Yay! That's all I know at this time. Hopefully this donor will be a perfect match.
If I could be tested I would. Maybe if im down there and if im post partum enough and I meet the guidlines. I'll try and get tested to help someone else.

It's me again with another update on our Summer Faith. Summer is in need of a transplant. Until she gets her new liver her mom is giving her 2 seperate IV's everyday one with vitamins called TPN and one with lipids to fatten her up. Once she receives her new liver she will have to be in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital for a month (thats without complications)and then nearby for at least 2 more. They will likely stay at the Ronald McDonald house however that only sleeps 4 and they are a family of six. With all the extra travel and expenses her family can use all the help they can get. The likelyhood of her transplant happening before Christmas is high. Let's help this family be able to have Christmas together and under 1 roof. Any little bit will help and if you can't help if you could share this it would be so very much appreciated.
