On the weekend of 1/21 while attending the Raul Huerta wrestling tournament in Moreno Valley Ca. our team van was robbed for $2500 worth of gear and cash. It's heartbreaking when something like this happens knowing how much our boys and coaches sacrifice to raise the finances to continue to attend tournaments. Any donation helps. Thank you to all of the wrestling community for your help.
Coaches report of what happened
While the school van was parked at Del Taco, athletes were moving about between the vehicle, the donut shop and Del Taco. There was a time period of 1-2 minutes where there were no athletes near the vehicle. As one athlete was exiting Del Taco, he saw a man exiting the school van with a backpack. It happened to be the coaches bag that contained petty cash some of which was to be used to purchase t-shirts for seniors on senior night, banquet food and awards for the youth wrestling club and the remainder to be deposited in the wrestling booster club account. There were also some personal items, thankfully replaceable but unfortunately inconvenient.
UPDATE: We are halfway there! Here's a message from the coach
Thank you. I'm overwhelmed with joy seeing some of the names that donated. Never would have expected it!
