Studying At Edge Hill
If I can take just a moment of your time, I'd like to tell you my story.
When I first started college, I had no direction. I thought that I was going to be an actor, dazzling audiences across the globe with my talent and ambition. That dream went up in a cloud of smoke and I wandered for a few years, lost and confused. When I returned to college, it was for all the wrong reasons. I ended up dropping out because "it was too hard."
Since returning for a third time, I've learned that I'm the only one who can control my future. I've devoted myself to following my passion for writing and it's gotten me where I am today.
I've become the Media Editor of an on-campus literary magazine, started/hosted my own podcast, begun creating an original animated series, and found my true calling within the literary community at the University of Central Arkansas.
Now, I've been given the chance to take the next step. I have never travelled outside of the country before, nor have I had the opportunity. But, by a stroke of luck and a bit of hard work getting there, my university has given me the chance to stretch my wings and experience what that same community I've come to know and love might be like in Ormskirk, England.
As most study abroad programs end up, they aren't cheap. I've been paying for college with the loans I've taken out, and I am now reaching out to all those who are willing to help me see this dream through.
The money raised through this GoFundMe effort would be used to help pay for my lodging, food, and transportation while overseas. I don't have lofty goals of travelling to multiple countries, seeing major sights, or partying it up in the UK. I'm just a struggling college student wanting to expand my knowledge and skillset as much as I possibly can so that one day, I might be able to utilize those skills when creating new works of fiction and screenplays.
Your donations, no matter the amount, are appreciated in so many ways. I don't know if or when such an opportunity will ever come my way again. But, what I do know is that I would represent my campus, community, and country to the best of my ability if given the chance to study in Ormskirk with Edge Hill University.
