Help Break the Cycle of Fatherlessness
Lost. Frightened. Angry. Sad. Hopeless. The voices of fatherless boys are crying out for love, hope and a future.
Life without a father? It’s a reality for the 27 young boys that Shoulder to Shoulder has waiting for mentors. Mentors who volunteer to be a surrogate for the father these boys never had. Mentors who offer friendship, fellowship and a guiding hand to boys who’ve never felt the healing touch of a father’s love.
Sunday June 18th, Father’s Day, a day when we all pause to remember and celebrate the love and legacy of our fathers. But what if they were never there?
“It felt like my Mom loved drugs more than she loved me. I felt lost. Angry. Mad. Sad. I tried to comprehend it, but I didn’t know how,” says Isaiah.
With Shoulder to Shoulder Isaiah was matched with a mentor who helped him learn to love life and love learning. When Isaiah graduated from high school he studied at William Jessup University.
“He was in the 7th grade when we met. Raised in a fatherless home, he had never played catch, never gone fishing, never flown a kite, never ridden a bike. He couldn’t name a man with a job, says his mentor.”
Today that young man is considered to be the best mathematician in his class, plays the clarinet and is working toward going to college and earning a degree in biomedical engineering.
STS needs your donations, large and small, to meet our goal of raising $50,000 by Father’s Day to match these 27 young men with mentors and pay the associated expenses.
Make a memory. Leave a memory. Whether you are able to donate or not, please leave us a memory or story below about your Dad and what he means to you.
God Bless You!
